Photographer's Note

Our drive along the Smith-Dorrien gravel trail during our recent visit to Canmore Alberta was memorable. The weather was variable but pleasantly cool and very windy. This shot was taken looking to the north from one of the small bridges that cross the reservoir.

Spray Lakes Reservoir

Location: Kananaskis Country, South of Canmore on Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail, AB, Canada, UTM: 11U 613972 E / 5650801 N

Elevation: 1700 Metres (5,576 Feet)

Description: Beginning as a series of small lakes, the Spray Lakes were raised by a series of hydro-electric dams in 1951. Today, it is regularly stocked with lake trout, attracting fishermen summer and winter.
