Photographer's Note

Corner in old town Jalapa.
Before the arrival of the Spanish Jalapa already existed as a small village called Xallapan. During the viceregal period and due to its strategic location between Mexico city and the port of Veracruz the village grew. Today is the capital of the State of Veracruz, it houses administrative buildings, several universities, museums and a symphonic orchestra. Its population is about 430 000.
