Photographer's Note
Sunset at Los Arcos is big business, there was a ‘pirate’ ship, and several smaller boats, one towing a parasailer and there were pelicans everywhere, including this fellow diving for a last meal before he lost the light. I'll post a inferior version of the boat on which we were sailing in the WS
It is almost impossible to avoid time-share presentations. On both trips we managed to escape the onslaught at the airport only to be captured while picking up a car on our prior visit or while checking into the hotel on this visit. The bribes to attend the presentation run from $250 US to a free dinner cruise. On the prior visit, three hours of time paid for our car rental. We sold out cheaply this time trading an hour of time for a Jazz Cruise.
We were disappointed in our expectation of live music. However, at least for me, the fact that the boat actually sailed, more than made up for the lack of live music. My spouse, the jazz fan and eternal ship's captain, was less charmed. At first he was pleased, pointing out with enthusiasm, “That’s the same mast we had on Wild Thing.” Soon he was grumbling, “He doesn’t have the mast rotated far enough,” and later, “He’s got the sails pulled in hard on a broad reach.”

Great looking shot - how did you persude the bird to pose in the hole in the rock for you? Stunning colour and the rock formation is pretty dramatic too. Well done!

Hi Pat, WOW ... are these real colors? Amazing combination of colors, almost surreal. The diving pelican right in the middle of the arch is real bonus.

Hi Patricia,
This is what we meant by perfect timing. The arch even helped us to really focus on the dive. I enjoyed the lovely colours and the purple is alluring. The shape of the rock even mimic a rabbit taking a sip. Congratulations!!! Best regards.

Beautiful photo, Pat - the coastside rock formation makes a fine photo subject in almost any imaginable setting, but you really hit the jackpot on this one with the pelican just in front of the arch, plus the lively colors that you found for this presentation. Very nice work.

Hi Pat,
Buen trabajo.

Hi Pat,
What a beautiful sunset! I'm touched mainly by the colors of the sky, seems really fire and it's absolutely impressive. The rocks are a perfect formation and the moment with the pelican is the détail makes this shot absolutely unique! Thanks and best wishes,

Hi Pat,
It's rare to see a shot where the most important elements of a good photograph get together so well: Good composition of a special landmark. beautiful light. And exact timing with the pelican.
But I'm less thrilled by your PP. The horizon line seems to continue through the rocks as you have given different PP on the sea and sky. And the pelican has totally diiferent colour balance. Either you have masked it off before PP or darkened it too much. Either way it now seems sort of glued on.

Hi Patricia,
You are much too casual in your presentation of this incredible image. You caught the exotic looking bird at a decisive moment, as if you had ordered it to appear in the open area of the rock. The sky and water hues here overwhem the senses. Well, you have sold me so far on the merits of travelling here, with or without the time-share perks. A memorable shot, Pat.

Hola Pat,
The place was intersting enough to shoot a picture and present it here, and the sunset colors add an out of earth atmosphere, but the diving pelican brings us back to reality, it is really our planet, and this photo turned out best because of your excellent timing.

Hola Pat
Felicitaciones

Hello Pat,
I feel like a kid in the proverbal candy store when I browse through your gallery. So many great photos to critique and so little time. This is an amazing shot and you couldn't have timed the diving pelican any better. You must have prefocused on the pelican the get the bird so sharp. Fantastic work!

hello pat
so, i took a look deep into your gallery to find out what mexico has to offer for scenery starving photographers ;) this is quite a shot in my opinion. dramatic sky, imposing rocks and the bird diving into the sea right against the opening in the rock. very well timed, my friend. especially given the rather slow shutter speed you were using.
my compliments!

This came up on your random selection and it caught my eye. The pelican was well placed in this scene and you couldn't have asked for a better place for him/her to dive. It is amazingly sharp for 1/60th of a second but did good girl.
