Photographer's Note

Street stands are everywhere in México, selling everything from hamburgers and giant sandwiches (super tortas) to classic Mexican dishes like quesadillas and tacos. They are open from early morning to late at night, and at a very reasonable price you get your order prepared fresh while you wait.

Here, it's a hot dog stand near Paseo de la Reforma, and business is good!

To eat or not to eat: the street food dilemma.
If it's COOKED fresh and does not have 1)fruit or 2)water that has not been boiled 3)undercooked meat, I usually eat it. I've had street food in Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Nepal and in my opinion street food tends to taste better than restaurant food unless you eat at a pretty nice restaurant. Maybe it's the vehicle emissions and germs?!

Anyway, I think eating is an essential cultural experience when travelling and therefore must be experienced at a 'local' level = eat what the locals eat.

=) of course, it's all up to you!
