A Touch of Civilization, a photo from Alberta, Prairies

Photographer's Note

A photo I had forgotten about for a couple reasons: the light was a little harsher than the photos I took earlier that morning, and I wasn't a big fan of the bridge. But now I somewhat rather like it. :)

Just northwest of the town of Banff are a number of lakes and ponds, including Lake Minnewanka, Two Jack Lake, Johnson Lake, and Cascade Pond. This one is Cascade Pond, and it's a very pretty place, overshadowed by the ubiquitous Mt. Rundle. Although originally I wasn't a fan of the bridges, I now like the little touch of civilization they add.

I love it. Sharp. Interesting. Perfect Balance of Colours. On a scale of 1 to 10 on the wicked scale, it's a serous 99, which is on par with our boy gretzky. Great job! Good commitment to get it early on a clear day.

Heaven on earth..
Beautiful composition and point of view gives this picture a lots of depth. The good light creates a lots of details (no hard shadows and no overlighted pieces).
The bridge(s)and mirrors makes the picture complete...

Hi Clark!
Another nice one. Beautiful still reflections and lovely morning light. I know what you mean about the bridges, but sometimes like you say, a little civilization doesn't hurt. I have not seen cascade pond but, but I am more familiar with Vermillion Lake next to Banff as a good photo subject. This looks like a marvellous setting, and like you said, Mt Rundle keeps popping up! Fine work, cheers,

Hi Clark,

Well captured, excellent tone and impressive landscape!
You're drawing out well colors of summer season when seeing blue sky, cloud and trees, and the whole is harmonized well by entire composition, color balance and situation of this place. And, it's effective in shadow projected to the lake, too.

Bonjour Clark,

Exceptionnelle capture de cet endroit tout ŕ fait enchanteur. L'image est d'une grande clarté, et précision. Les reflets sont vraiment superbes. Personnellement, je commence ŕ apprécier la présence humaine, par ex. ce pont, car cela donne une autre dimension ŕ la photo.
Le mont est surréaliste comme il se dresse au loin.
Une superbe composition, bravo.
