The Fiery Buddha, a photo from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, East

Photographer's Note

A couple of Israeli's spent the whole day creating this sand scuplture of a Buddha on Neil Island and as the sun went down and a crowd gathered they lit coconut husks around the base.

You may also notice that they created a plaque at the base of the sculpture saying "Thank you for your help" and beneath was an empty Coconut for anyone who felt so inclined to donate.
Now I will admit that I did provide a small amount of coinage as I took a lot of photos which I knew I would get pleasure from but I was not sure of the morality of them asking for money in a country where the poor don't have two coins to rub together...

Hi Matthew, I really like your sharp composition. I think, the biggest advantage of your picture is the whole range of colors from both, the sky and fire. and of course the perfect sand sculpture of Buddha. nice one!

Good the buddhist were not offended by this. Back to your photo good shot. The prevailing BG blue color enhanced the image of the buddha. Nice shot.
