Photographer's Note

Antelope Slot Canyon is close to Lake Powell, Page in Arizona. The canyon fall within the Navajo Nation and trips are arranged by the Navajos. The accessibility of the upper canyon means that it is a popular one to visit.
The canyon is formed by erosion of the Navajo sandstone during flash floods. Beams of light flood in through openings in the roof of the canyon.
The canyon is very busy with groups of tourists and extremely narrow in places so it is almost impossible to use a tripod so I resorted to hand held. There are times when photographic tours can be booked and tripods are encouraged and even available to hire. Unfortunately they were fully booked when we were there. Nevertheless, the walk through the canyon and back was a very memorable experience so I wanted to share one of my pictures with you. I have not enhanced the colours although added a little contrast and sharpening.
