Photographer's Note

This is of course the Sydney Opera House taken at dawn in the presence of our friend Malgo (Emka) during the Australian Autumn. Although Malgo was only in Sydney for a few days, we had a lot of fun during that short time. I had worried that the weather would be no good, but Sydney Harbour put on a particularly impressive light display that morning. This view is taken from Campbell Cove, The Rocks.

Dear Lisa,

This is the most eye-catching view I've ever seen of the great Opera House. Apparently, you are looking east. The photo reminds of me of the silhouettes of the sails of several traditional dowe sailing boats, maneuvering to get into line at at regatta.

now this is just what I need,it`s been raining here since I can`t remember when and I can`t help thinking that maybe,just maybe I should be in Parramatta...
This is a lovely morning shot,the first light colours are gorgeous and of course SOH makes a perfect subject at any time of day,the sails are exposed perfectly,lovely shot.
Did you need any ND filters on this?

a purple and pink hour shot this. With stunning clarity and such a beautifully soothing ambience about it. Looks so calm and tranquil, unlike here where we are getting ready for yet another big storm tonight, with gales and horizontal rain. Deep joy! Sublime pinks, apricots and mauves Lisa and a wonderful shot of the Opera House and yes, Malgo was lucky. To see a sight like this must have been so exciting.I love the promise that the dawn of a new day brings and here with the lightening horizon and under-lit clouds the promise is there.

Thank you very much for this shot but above all, for your wonderful hospitality in Sydney. These two (only!) days were marvelous). I was very lucky - to see Sydney Opera in this light and to be there with you (and your tripod) was unforgettable experience. And how much fun we had there, specially with Vegemite the next morning:). Sorry you got up so early, much earlier than me, but we were both rewarded with splendid shots.

Finally I bought a new tripod and I go everywhere with it, even with small hand luggage. And I use it when necessary.

one doesn't need to love opera, architecture or photography to enjoy this one, this is fantastic! the colors might be unbelievable for naive eyes, but i know they are real. same colors i had seen in edinburgh seaside, it was a sunset, but i am afraid to upload it here, as the people will think it is much saturated, even though it is not. anyways, let's thank to malgo for the early bird singing.

Obviously the gods were pleased with either yourself or Malgo (but most probably both of you!) and blessed you with some wonderful light at sunrise this particular morning.

The light and the colours are stunning and one thing I really love about your pictures is that in cases such as this you do not make any attempt to "gild the lily" by going overboard with saturation and contrasts - this looks totally believable and I'm sure that this is exactly what you saw when you pressed the button.

Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

Wow, the good lord certainly had his paint brush out that morning, and what a display that was put on! the colors and lights in the sky are incredible, like something from another world, and of course what a bonus to have this architectural icon in the center. I dont know which is worse. Freezing my tail off or sweating and melting in the humid summer heat? Anyway I elected to stay put and look after another teachers house and pets so she could go on a vacation over the holiday break. I don't feel left out because I had more than enough travel through 8 countries just a few months ago. One of these days I will have to rediscover my own country! It's been decades since I've been outside Mascot or Tullamarine. Oh, the photo! Love the reflections and the profiled view of the iconic Opera house. A superb sunset with impeccable sharpness and lovely warm cold colour contrasts between the pink and blue. Interesting cloud patterns and the long time exposure has given a soft silky look to the water as well as starbursts on the lights. Tfs and have a safe and happy Christmas New Year break. You're allowed to have some vino too!

I can confirm now that Malgo carries her tripod everywhere. Sadly while visiting me in M'bro we did not have such a beautiful object to photograph. The light was not that great either.
It is a very impressive picture and the light was truly extraordinary. The Opera provides a wonderful silhouette to be set against this spectacular sky.
