BC Place

I don’t think I have ever posted a photo of a sports stadium before, but there is a first time for everything. This is BC Place in Vancouver, whose roof structure is quite attractive, especially as it is surrounded by a lot of appealing architecture and here you may recognise the Parq Vancouver building, which featured in my previous post.

BC Place was built in the early 1980s and opened in 1983. It underwent a major renovation in 2011, when the original air-supported roof was replaced by the current retractable roof, which you can see in this photo. BC Place was the main stadium for the 2010 Winter Olympics, hosting both the opening and closing ceremonies. It is home to two professional sports teams, the Canadian football team BC Lions (playing in the Canadian Football League) and the football (i.e. soccer) team Vancouver Whitecaps FC, playing in the Major League Soccer.

I added an additional photo to the workshop with a reflection of the roof in the other side of the Parq Vancouver façade.
