John Hancock Center
Chicago, Illinois

Looking up at the John Hancock center on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. The 100-story building was completed in 1970, and has almost 900,000 square feet of office space, over 170,000 square feet of retail space, 700 condominiums, and an observatory encompassing the 94th floor. While I did not explore the observatory, you can head to the Signature Room on the 95th floor or the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor for some great views of the city, which is free(as long as you purchase drinks or meals).

At 1127 feet tall (1500 feet if you include the antennas), it is the 3rd tallest building in Chicago, 4th tallest in the U.S., and 14th tallest in the world. The criss cross design on the exterior adds strength to the design and eliminates the need for support beams, increasing the interior space.
