Photographer's Note
The interior of a lovely Episcopal church, near the Soldiers and Sailors monument on Monument Circle in the heart of Indianapolis. It was founded in 1837, when residents established the local congregation there. Reportedly, the area wasn't very urbanized, so congregants built a fence around the property, to keep pigs out of the churchyard! The current building was constructed in 1857. It's now the ceremonial seat of the Bishop of Indianapolis, who oversees 46 congregations. Outreach is a primary purpose of the modern congregation, so you may be able to see some of the works performed by the church. They have focused particular efforts in recent years on homeless issues.
