Photographer's Note
I had to leave at about 4:45 in the morning, trek across a mile's worth of dunes, and I arrived at Lake Michigan just in time for sunrise. It was a relatively warm and humid morning for so far up north, and there was dew dripping off of a healthy Marram Grass specimen about thirty feet from the water's edge.
Marram grass is what holds the dune together. It is a frontiersman: the first to appear at the border of the lake, it stabilizes the sand so that other plant life can take root. There is a beauty to its strength and solitary existence.

A work of art. Beautiful contrast between the colors green and red. Very strong.

Hey Greg,
The sky is very interesting in your photo here. The vibrant green contrasting with the more pastel sunrise somewhat makes it look to me like the grass was enjoying the morning existence... when suddenly you came along with your camera and surprised it! Almost like the grass was schocked to see a human at this time of day.
I really like that effect, but I wonder how it'd look too without a flash (i.e. grass black shilhouette against the pastel sky). Might then look more peaceful/calming.
Nonetheless, I like!

Very good photo with great colours. Interesting theme. However, I quite aggre with ibemmels that I would like to see the photo without the flash.
However, very good posting!

Penny
