Photographer's Note

This is blown glass artwork by Dale Chihuly. It is currently on display at the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio. This particular piece is called a "macchia" which is the Italian word for spotted. Chihuly decided to create a series of pieces that used all 300 colors of glass available in as many combinations as possible. In creating the macchias, he uses different colors for the interior, exterior and the edge of the form. As you can see, the pieces of glass are mixed in with the plants. I believe the lighting in the picture was natural light from above. No post-processing.
