The Maine State House, in much better light (and wind!) than in the previous shot. I toyed with correcting the perspective on the stairs, but was never happy with the result, so I've chosen to leave it as is.

Hello Andrew,

I like this picture because of its lovely lighting and also because it sets me a challenge!

As soon as I saw this and read your note, I simply couldn't resist the opportunity to try out a workshop, so (and I hope you don't mind) I've done a quick workshop for you in an attempt to correct the perspective here. I'm not quite sure that it's worked that well - you can be the final judge of that.

But, yes, it is the lighting here which is so delightful. The colours, too, are vibrant and true and the exposure perfect as also is the sharpness.

I also couldn't resist following your link to your larger image on Flickr and, having done so, I've also added you as a "contact" or "friend" there too even though I haven't actually been on Flickr very much at all recently. I notice that you are a Flickr "pro" but that costs money doesn't it? Is it worth an annual fee and, if so, what are the advantages?

The other thing that crossed my mind was that I see that you use Microsoft Windows Live Photo Gallery for editing. Is that something that comes attached to Windows? I've tried looking for something like that but what I found didn't seem that useful. But, for the last couple of weeks, Amazon U.K. has had an offer (which I think has now finished) in which you could get Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 as well as Adobe Premiere Elements 11 (for video editing) together for only Ł48. Photoshop Elements in my opinion is brilliant and I find it very, very good indeed. I certainly couldn't be persuaded to part with nearly Ł700 for the full version of Photoshop.

So, Andrew, thank you for a lovely picture - and a challenge too!

Hi Andrew,

I have often also this problem if I should correct the perspective? i saw the John workshop, it looks nice, maybe better, but I lkike as it is here too. good light, cheerful flags and nice big grasses.
