The Vinalhaven Chamber of Commerce welcomes you! Our organization represents the broad range of businesses and organizations flourishing on our island.

Vinalhaven Island is twelve miles off the coast of Maine, a working island of striking natural beauty. We have a year round population of about 1200 people, and welcome many more from around the world in the summer months. The village of Vinalhaven is located on Carvers Harbor on the southern end of the island, a short walk from the ferry terminal. The harbor is home to one of the worlds largest lobster fishing fleets, with that industry making up roughly half of the islands economy. We have a full K-12 school system, a medical and dental health center, volunteer ambulance and fire crews; in addition to lobster-persons, we are builders, musicians, plumbers, teachers, shopkeepers, electricians, innkeepers, artists, writers, realtors, restauranteurs, boat builders, ferry captains, architects, administrators, conservationists, and more. We have a full-time Town Manager who works with an elected Board of Selectmen to govern our community.

Hello Tom,
This is a nice shot of this beautiful place, I just hope that it is cooler there than here in Florida! The low angle lighting provides warm color and excellent details throughout the scene. The reflection creates depth and balance for the scene.

Wow! What a great picture of this small island!
Probably the picture is taken with the light of the rising or the setting sun. I really like those many warm tones.
The foreground looks wonderful with the two small boats between the wooden pillars of the jetty and their reflections in the sea. Splendid graphical effect.

I am not sure about this advertisement)from the point of view of tos but the photo is splendid. Do you like here on this island? marvelous evening light, very interesting all these poles and ladders. Fantastic atmosphere. Only two boats here, other probably are fishing lobsters. I would like to see one. Superb work.

Lovely sunset reflection - the brightly colored houses combine with the warm light to create a really nice and tranquil summer image. Nice use of the pier as well - the pattern helps create a divider between the subject and the reflection.

great the view of this part of the Lobster fishing island with its reflections to make the image unique.
I like the beautiful and warm colours with the two motor boats to are moored in the shadow of the waterfront.Excellent presentation and capture.

I just love the warmth of the colours which strike even on the thumbnail; with the low sun gilding the timbers and lighting the roofs, they welcome a viewer into the shot.
The reflections are beautiful, giving a symmetrical composition to your sharp photograph.

Hi Tom,
Good to see that you're off enjoying another trip to Maine, I didn't see a date on your most recent photo so I moved back to this one to check. Anyway, I love the light here and the great reflection. Those tilting pier pilings almost make me dizzy but the building corners are straight and true, I like the contradictory sensory input.
