Photographer's Note
Surrounded by office towers in Boston's financial district, the Old State House dates from 1713. This Georgian-style building was the site of the first elected legislature in the western hemisphere. Parts of the building were used for the legislature, the supreme court for the colony, a merchant exchange and even a warehouse in the basement. The basement is currently used as an entrance to a subway station below.
