Another view of the iron pour at the Saugus Iron Works here, as two of the workers distribute molten iron into the various molds. As you can see again, the mold would often burst into flame as the iron, at over 3000 F (1700 C), hits it. The iron cooling in the molds glowed red for some time after the iron was poured in. You can also see here how close many of the spectators were - Gert, you mentioned yesterday that you were surprised at the level of security, and I imagine you will be again here. I'm always surprised when I look at this shot at how nonchalant many of the spectators were, checking their phones instead of watching this amazing display. I myself was running around like a mad person snapping away, as I imagine many of you would have been as well!
