Photographer's Note
The end of summer is quickly approaching, and soon most of Coney Island will shut down until next May. Of course the beach will still be there, but the rides and boardwalk shops will close for fall and winter.
Coney Island is in the southern part of Brooklyn, and the beach borders the Atlantic Ocean. It is an area well-known for its amusement parks, boardwalk, and arcades. There is also a lovely aquarium, although they are still rebuilding it after severe damage from Hurricane Sandy last year.
I wanted to capture a split view of the beach and the boardwalk. The girl on the left was probably also aware that summer was ending. I'll be back next year, when a new season of Coney Island fun begins...

Its a railing, Brenda, and I thought it is water. This is what intrigued me from the thumbnail.
She looks a big baby in that floral dress and can ask for the camera the next moment!!
The effects of wind is clear.

hi Brenda,
A great scene, and a great way to say farewell until next year. I think the girl on the left is an important part of the whole scene, as the wind whipping her hair seems to indicate the time of calm soft gentle summer breezes has passed, and that the wilder weather of winter approaches quickly. Your composition on this is really very appealing.
All the best

Hi Brenda,
The metal railing here separates the picture nicely in two parts and the parallel shadows enhance the effect. The beach part to the right looks quite empty but it provides a fine colour. Seems like all the people stay on the left side, where they add colours. I can imagine how crowded this can be in full summer.
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hi Brenda
haha...its like a 3D image or something!
you know what i like about this shot? i like seeing the beach...because when us foreigners think of NY or of the surrounding cities, we don't think of beaches!
But clearly there is a large and pretty darn nice looking beach here!!
by looking at it, you'd never know its NY State, it could be Florida, seriously.
And i have a question....the rides at the park. Do they change? because one of the major complaints of our Summer Fair is the rides hardly ever change.
cool shot, see you around

Hi Brenda,
I'm probably one of very few that is actually looking forward to the end of summer! ;) Ahh, Coney Island...I guess it's getting time to call it a season and start looking forward to the changing colors and cool bite in the air. It's kind of odd seeing the beach vacated like this, everything I've ever seen shows it full of life...especially on a sunny day like this. What a strong lead in and perspective here, using the low angle on the railing really emphasizes the visual. I like too that you have that fun play of bird in flight, and the woman in the foreground for the human touch. Do you ever venture down in the winter...I imagine it would almost be like a ghost town in the bitter cold?? Here's to the change of seasons...soak it up while you can! :) Take care.
Friendly wishes,
Jason

Hi Brenda
There's a tremendous depth achieved with its diagonal lines and shadow recede so smoothly into the distance on a lively day. A shot very much benefited from sublime light which is always clean and fresh. The beachgoers on the promenade pull the eyes to meander around the scene which looks so pleasant enough from the best viewpoint. Well coloured, contrast and as usual your handling of light is always second to none. The feel is thoroughly joyful, Congrats, TFS

Hi Brenda,
Lovely capture of an end-of-season amusement boardwalk along the beach ! Well the beach will be left to the walkers and will regain some of its natural look.
I like the inclusion of the two birds who seem to say goodbye to the season too.
So see you next year on that beach again, but before that an TE, I hope :-)
Kind regards.
Marie-Louise.

Hi Brenda,
I like this creative angle, it is a street portrait with some creative flair, the woman makes this image interesting. A cool shot.

Olá Brenda,
nice summer photo. I like the woman with hair in the wind. I hope next time in NY I could visit Coney island both beach and the park.

Hello Brenda,
When the title comes true, it will please a lot of people.
Yet it is very difficult to make such a prediction today. We can only hope.
You probably haven't been able to take a photo like this in Coney Island in recent months. It may not even have paid off to go there at all this summer.
Let us hope for the future and think positively.
All the best!
Paul
