NYC Yellow Cab and Manhattan Steam, a photo from New York, Northeast

Photographer's Note

This shot is taken on a rainy night @ some corner of Manhattan. It was not really late. Yellow cab stopped @ the red light to let us walk. Instead i stopped and took the shot. All happened not longer than 5 sec. And then i realised that this one one turned out to be one of my best taxi cab shots in NY. The steam and the taxi adjusted so well. I was lucky to get it on time.

There's a little bit of photoshop CS touch on the dark corners to get rid of shadows. And white balance for the headlights of the cars. I did not touch the nature of the yellow cab. It already had the dynamics itself.

Welcome to TE Ken. Iconic view of night time US. Sharp shot result for a low light shot. Why do US streets all have this steam emerging form manholes. I can't recall seeing it anywhere else.

That steam is so well captured. It -almost- looks like a comet streaking across the picture (lets not get too carried away though). You must have a steady hand to get it this sharp. Hats off to you!

The effect of the steam, cab's movement and red lights reflected on the road make a wonderful picture. Perfect!
