Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

I think I mentioned before, that there was a public holiday underway when we arrived in New York. Of course, it was for Independence Day, which coincided with my husband's birthday on July 4th. We were so pleased that so many celebrations and firework displays were organised for his birthday!!!

Along the Esplanade, there were bands and lots of athletic displays. This guy was very talented but, maybe the New Yorkers were eager to see other things as not many stopped to enjoy his music.

Nearby, there was a colourful guitarist who I will post as a workshop.

The weather was incredibly hot!
New York experienced a record breaking heatwave whilst we were there.

Hi Beverley,
Small street bands are common in NYC, as I rememner.
What drew my attention on this main post is the face expression of the drummer, looking at some object far left - but than realized the big lady on his side, indifferent to the people walking around, nor to the guy on the drum (her son maybe), and busy with her phone ( or maybe just a glove, not sure about).
Nice outcome nonetheless.

Hello Bev,

We see the title on the T-Shirt of your picture.
At public would we not see the heatwave, everyone are still good clothing.
The black Lady with long dress can the sun not burn.
The musician has less people to listen toward his music.
An excellent daily life picture, nice sharp and clear photographed.

Two beautiful photos that let us enjoy this attractive side of the Big Apple.
I always fully enjoy the street musicians who can give so much extra atmosphere to a city.
As far as I am concerned, the beautiful weather also belongs to NY because we have usually had warm and sunny weather.

Hello Bev,
You continue with the same good mood and nice colours as in yesterday's photo, but in a very different environment. Personally I am all for strolling along streets watching people, and New York is one of those cities where one is likely to find the greatest number of good snapshot opportunities. Both photos today are in my beloved "nothing special"category, which is so special to me.

Hi Bev,
Excellent shot of this street musician and all the people around him, seemingly ignoring the performance. Thick brown stone wall does not look typical for New York, but makes an lovely background for this scene.

I guess the WS was stronger in terms of image, but I liked the two photos you posted here. the personages are so well presented. sometimes these street artists looks so abandoned and some of them looks like don't get a coin for day..

I really like the mood of this photo, which is very relaxed and inviting, thanks to the musicians in the foreground and the other people passing by. The old wall makes a good backdrop and doesn't look very much like New York of course, but I think I recognise it. Well done.

Bonjour, chčre Bev,
De bons souvenirs qui doivent remonter ŕ la surface.
Il faut dire qu'il y avait une bonne ambiance pour ce 4 juillet (anniversaire de votre mari).
Quant ŕ la guitare présentée en atelier, elle relčve plus du
UKULELE que d'une guitare classique (elle est étonnante, l'on dirait un instrument fabriqué par ce personnage haut en couleur).

Nice candid, Good eye for street shooting even though it does look so busy but focus is on that drummer. As you mentioned, the lighting is harsh however, exposure is well managed. Well done

Two magnificent images that show very well the atmosphere of the city on a festive day, the boy with his full drums seems not to have many listeners, the man with the little guitar that is also bandaged seems to have more public, although his appearance attracted more attention .
Very effective coloring, which highlights the details of the image.
Good management, both in terms of brightness and sharpness.
Very well done. I like it.

I would be curious to know what real New York cheesecake and pizza taste like? They often get touted as superlative in Australia. The tshirt says it all re the title. Well spotted and framed. Tfs!

Beverley, that band animates the street just before the Independance day. The fortress and the passersby form a nice background. Excellent daily life scene. Interesting note :) Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
