Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Please open in the large format, to see it clearer.
America will be awakening to a situation of deep unrest!
Mr Biden appears to be leading in the polls and President Trump is claiming election fraud! Have we seen this behaviour in others, when a loser claims unfair play!
I hope this number of police cars will not be necessary in the city, to keep control of the unrest, but it does seem irresponsible of a politician to stir up such trouble. For someone so prominent, in the public eye, you would expect dignity and calm!!! Okay - we are talking Trump!
I'm not sure what the problem was, when we were in N.Y, but we left our hotel to find lots of police cars lined on two streets! We never saw or heard of any trouble and in the afternoon, they had all disappeared.
I'm not quite sure where this took place. I think it was quite near Ground Zero. Hopefully Brenda, who is so helpful at locating places, may be able to help.
I have added a w/s, just for fun!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
Did you check if there was a popular hamburger bar nearby? I have seen in the movies that policemen spend a lot of their days eating hamburgers or hot dogs. ;-)
I think in any case this is fairly typical of NYC, where there seems to be a high presence of police everywhere all the time. I've never heard more police car sirens than there.
As for what is going on now, this behaviour is often heard of in dictatorships in the "third world" or so called "banana republics". The US is since roughly 2017 no longer regarded as a full democracy by respected think tanks.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Bev,bad days are also expected in Italy due to the return of the lockdown and the protests of traders already in crisis due to the lack of tourists. However, this photo is an excellent opportunity to talk about what will happen in the United States when the new president is proclaimed. Of course in the reign of Microsoft it is absurd that there is still this electoral system from 200 years ago… hehe… nice shot with Len in the WS. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Bev,
Unfortunately, Mr. Trump is acting as usual, I am suprised that he was not ask to keep quiet by the Republican party. The point of view is showing a row of police cars which is also giving depth to the composition. Have a nice day.

Hello Beverley,
If there would be something to remember from NYC, was the sirenes by NYPD cars and NYFD trucks - so much associated with the vibrant city.
Nicely shown the juxtaposition of the cars, contrasting colors of the surrounding and light & shadows differential's on the picture.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hi Bev,
Sign of the times I guess. Impressive row of police cars, and the reason of them to be there remains a mystery. I guess we can expect some restless days before things calm down.

nice views of so many police cars. I am ever trying to take one in my city while working with the red lights on and a big fusil in the window, but it is difficult.
curious troubles in the american election, here we have electronic machines for vote and one hour after everybody knows who is the winner. in my town we know who is the winner for mayor in few minutes..
take care

Hi Bev
a very suitable photo to go with your interesting note.
I have recently tried to capture an array of taxi cabs in Athens but not very successful. Here they pose nicely to you making a pleasant repeated motif. Yes, the problem with elections recently is that there is not much to choose from. Biden has made for example inappropriate jokes about Polish people. Somehow democrats like good relations with Russia which usually translates into something bad for Poland. Obama cancelled a deal with Poland being afraid to anger Russia etc.
It is a lose-lose situation from my perspective.
Very nice reportage,
M

Hello Bev,
The Big Apple is in deep trouble , someone has put a poison to the apple to the fellow American to cause civil war. And I'm not surprised at all with Trump, yes! we are talking about him. Definitely, he got the whole world watching.....
Well, I would like to know why so many police cars.....I think it was a 'drill' they were doing , as you said it was quite near Ground Zero. Didn't you enquire about it from the hotel staff? If this happening now, it will be an awakening of violent clash.
I'm sure you've Hutch to protect you and ready to drive the NYPD with you back to the cruise ship.
It's not fair why it's always Len not you in the WS.
Well,if it was you, you too, couldn't help posing as Lacey or was it Cagney :-)
Thanks for sharing this trouble news.

Dear Beverley,
Nice collection of police cars, including the Ford Crown Victoria (the second one), the 'the best police car ever' according to police officers.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Beverley, a very interesting note. Let’s hope that the police aren’t needed in the very near future!
You managed a good angle to get all the police cars in view.
There wasn’t a police station near by? I like Gert’s comment about a hamburger bar.
I am surprised that you have kept these American shots hidden away in your archive all this time.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Bev, There is still no officially given who won this presidential run. Will Camara Harris be a woman vice President? Let's hope :).
Interesting view of this long row of the Police cars. Pity that I must stay at home (because of COVID) and I can't show an even longer row of the Police cars in Warsaw during the women protests.
Fantastic depth.
Best regards MAlgo

Hi Beverly!
I hope these cars and the cops can stand calm when all votes are counted and we have a final result.
But I`m afraid, seeing the news on diferent channels.
This is good shot with great depth showing the long row of police cars. Maybe a VIP was around.

Hello Beverley,
Well, at the moment people are just celebrating in the streets of New York, let's hope it stays that way and that these or any other police cars throughout the USA won't be needed because of any unrest following the outcome of the elections. You took this photo on a wonderfully bright day and I really like the repetition of these police cars.

Hello Bev,
This gathering of police cars is a mystery, even to me! Maybe there was a police meeting somewhere nearby?! Whatever the reason, this is a nice view of all the cars lined up on a sunny day. Take care!

Hello Bev,
Maybe it was their day off? Good repetition of the parked NYPD cars and the line up provides superb linear perspective guiding the eye down the street. Tfs!
