Art Deco Marvel, a photo from New York, Northeast

Photographer's Note

For Art Deco lovers, this building is certainly a fine example. The style is found around its every corner but easily overlooked due to the large crowd of tourists visiting the plaza for views of the annual Christmas tree and ice skaters, including me. I'm glad I took a moment to look up and admire!

I like the mix of colors. Nice composition and good POV... maybe it is a little dark in some areas but I like it anyway.

Hello Kathy,
An unusual architectural shot for you, but just as compelling. It displays perfect one-point perspective, and a complementary black frame. Your note is very interesting in a city that features the vertical, it is easy to miss what is just overhead, while focusing on the skyline. I noticed you shot the photo on Dec. 16, I went through the day in Virginia listening to Beethoven (and grading exams) -- it was Beethoven's 234th birthday. But just two weeks earlier I was in New York, virtually at the same spot, and I posted a couple of 2-3 photos.

Hello Kathy. This is a very nice picture with an impressive perspective of this building. The masonic art deco in the building looks great. The reflection of the clouds and blue sky on the windows is also very good. You made good use of light to obtain very good colors and definition in this picture. Nice work and have a Happy New Year :-)

The art deco looks great. Few people notice this though, they always look forward to pushing the revolving doors or looking for pushers...lol. Love the blue sky reflection on the windows. Good POV. Cheers
