Photographer's Note
This presentation is unusual for me in that I typically try to present scenes in a natural looking composition. This trip I decided to experiment a little to see if I liked anything I got. I took several classic straight up shots and this one at an angle. When I got home, since I am bias against extreme tilt, I tried to ignore this one, but it still seems to jump out at me in the final selection. I hope you like it.
The St. Augustine Light, constructed during 1871-1874, is 165 feet tall, built of brick on a concrete foundation and has served continuously since its construction. At times the lighthouse had as many as three lightkeepers at a time - head keeper and two assistants. In 1955, the light was automated and the last keeper left, and replaced by lamplighters, men who tended the light but did not live on site.
Today the light is owned privately, but is still an official active aid to navigation, and receives thousands of visitors each year. It is owned and operated by The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum, a not-for-profit organization

Hey Ned!
This photo made me smile, almost laugh - and I dont mean that in a bad way, i think it's a very happy photograph and I think it's great!
I love the angle and it makes me think of a barber's pole. The stripe around the lighthouse is superb and I like the wee house and the lamppost as well as the tree breaking into the image. Even the edge of the roof on the lower right breaks up the sky and adds interest - very good pic!

Interesting angle. It really works with the lightpost and tree on either side of the lighthouse. The roof in the bottom right corner is a bit distracting. Very sharp.
Good work.

Let me be honest (of course), I don't like this photo. It's artistic, but if I want to see the real likeness of the lighthouse I'd prefer a 'normal' picture. Anyway, congratulations for the try of a unusual angle.
