Photographer's Note

This is my second serious attempt at scanning a negative. I picked a challenging one. I originally printed this negative in the darkroom and it was very challenging even then. Lots of dodging and burning... splitting filters and such. I ended up scanning it four times and blending two for the sky and two for the sand and then placeing a sand layer on top of the cloud concentrated image. Then I spotted the image via clone tool. Thank the Gods you only have to do it once in digital land. I then did a bit of localized dodging and burning to get it as close as possible to my silver gelatin print. As an after thought I made the image RGB and ran it through a warm filter that I then dropped to 60% opacity. I shot this with my favorite toy camera with Tri-x 320. I love using the stuff from time to time. It has a very unique looking grain to it.
