Photographer's Note
The Cape Hatteras Light is probably the most famous of the US lighthouses and is certainly the tallest at 198 feet. Built in 1802 the light was upgraded a number of times over the next two centuries. It is located on a narrow strip of sand close to the ocean in an area known as the graveyard of the Atlantic. The offshore shoals, 14 miles out at sea, have claimed an untold number of wayward vessles.
Erosion had been an constant threat to the structure, which eventually became an emminent threat to this historic lighthouse. In the summer of 1999 the light house was moved to it's current location 2900 ft further inland.

Hello Ned,
This is a well composed and crisply focused photo of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. This is my favorite North Carolina lighthouse. My wife is originally from Chapel Hill, NC and we camped near this lighthouse in 1987 before it was moved inland. I thought that camping on the beach would be like camping in the Colorado mountains. The sweltering heat, humidity and misquitoes made for a miserable evening. We checked out at 4AM and went to an airconditioned motel. I loved North Carolina's outer banks in spite of our unpleasant campout. Good job!

Hey, Ned.
This is a reeally good shot. I love the composition with the foliage and wooden structure filling the lower part and the focus being directed to the lighthouse. It seemed a little light, though and I have done a workshop. Hope you don't mind. Kindest regards,
Shelly

Hi Ned, I like the stick of rock look this light house gives, a nicely composed photo with the light house just to the right, great focus & it looks superb against that excellent sky, also wonderful pastel colours, kind regards Wilson. PS the workshop AROBN54 has done is very good & puts a slightly different sighting on the photo.

Hi Ned
I think Lionel trains used this lighthouse as a model to display on their train sets in recent years. The people who designed these lighthouses were so avant-garde, the paint work is not only beautiful but I'm sure it also helped mariners out to sea to identify where they were.
Thanks again.
Regards
Edward.
