Country Mailbox, a photo from California, West

Photographer's Note

US Postal Mailbox out in the rural community of Bonsall, San Diego.

Bonsall is but one of the names held by this area of the county near Fallbrook. Originally Mt. Fairgood and then Osgood after a chief engineer of the Southern Railroad Survey, the area underwent a naming contest of sorts in 1889.

When a petition called for it to be renamed Reed, Favorite or Bonsall, after a retired minister who developed a fruit tree industry here, James Bonsall.

Today it remains a rural area with a 2-acre per home development requirement and its proximity to San Luis Rey Downs Thoroughbred Training Center makes it popular with the horsy set.

I like this pleasant and calm composition. Maybe a slightly lower POV could have been used to isolate the mailbox from the horizon.

This simple scene is really worth to show. The picture has a fine composition and good colours. The picture is sharp, almost too sharp.

Hi Joseph,
I get the feeling of rural area in this picture. I agree with rodalvas for the POV. However, the sharpness and detail are very good.

"You've got mail baby" ! I like this composition Joseph. This mail bos seems lost in the fields, it's hard to convince myself somebody is living there, due to the croping of the picture. Colors are great, sky too. Congratulation !

Blue, brown, green Contoras is a very beautiful photograph like the one scene of the movie.

I liked this photograph very much in the photograph where the earth in the
United States was symbolized

Photo such as this should be turned into a stamp celebrating Americana. Hahaha...

Superb composition, and colors. I think maybe a tad oversharpened though, seems to have brought in a touch of noise? Regardless, a small issue on an otherwise flawless shot.

this photograph, in my mind, helps me create that myth of a rural simply life.

its got that country charm to it. the old beat up mailbox and the splendid, earth rich hill in the back, and of course the gravel road(?) in the foreground that isnt as visible but still is there...
