Abstract Rock Art, a photo from California, West

Photographer's Note

This photo was taken at Natural Bridges State Beach. I was attracted to the abstract geometrical shapes and lines in the rocks. This marine terrace lies a few yards from the ocean on what is known as the Monterey Formation.
I used aperture priority and my camera was handheld. I tried to capture a feeling of the natural lines, textures and shapes, like the dots, within the rocks.

A very well composed image and great use of front lighting to create a nice feel and excellent depth. The play of light on the rocks, with deepened shadows make this photo even more powerful, enhanced by excellent details. Perfectly optimized crop. Well done!!
