Photographer's Note

During my visit to Fort Baker on Sunday I parked atop the bulkhead serving as the northern edge of a small harbor and marina. As I walked around the harbor toward the pier jutting into San Francisco Bay I noticed a launching ramp and saw a portion of the bulkhead visible from the ramp. I walked closer and was delighted to find the scene I'm posting today. The timbers of the bulkhead have been weathered by sun and sea while this steel cable, which appears to be a remnant from some other place and time jammed into a crevice, has rusted in the sea air. All in all it makes what Yitzhak would call a perfect combination of textures. I agree. I hope you enjoy the image as well.
