The Historic Battlement Mesa School House in Battlement Mesa in western Colorado, it is at the foot of Haystack Mountain. The house is on a mesa overlooking the Grand Valley which is almost 1000 feet below. It is currently in the possession of the Grand Valley Historical Society

built in 1897 The schoolhouse was the first building constructed with something other than wood in this region. It was constructed with the native red sandstone dug up from a quarry a couple miles from the site. The main road going past the house is called Stone Quarry Road named for that quarry

I have talked to the current owner of the building. She is the director of the Grand Valley Historical Society and is widowed to the grand son of the engineer of this building

The Grand Valley is considered desert surrounded by green mountains and mesas the Colorado River cuts through the valley. I have just moved here a couple of months ago, coincidentally during the strongest El Nino in over 50 years and I have been seeing almost nothing but snow since I got here.
notice the hawk on top of the little mast?
Not too sure what is up with the Shutter Speed menu kind of odd, but the shutter speed was 1/250 of a second at F9 and a 98mm focal length and an ISO of 100
