Once proud but still loud, a photo from Montana, West

Photographer's Note

The high plains of Montana are littered with little houses like this, once the home to hardworking farm families. Over the years, it has become difficult for small family farms to survive. Since there is little market for these homes, they are left abandoned while the land is put to other uses or bought up by larger landholders. In the meantime the houses are left to slowly die.

Vue de loin la façade latérale de la maison se confond avec le fond de l'image.
Le toit rouge vif et la façade principale provoquent un joli contraste sur le paysage.
C'est génial.

Sight by far the side wall of the house merges with the bottom of the image. The sharp red roof and the principal frontage cause a pretty contrast on the landscape. It is brilliant.

Well Ned, you've done it again! I think you should be barred from these type areas because it makes me want to go and look, see, shoot. LOL. Excellent subject matter, wonderful light and composition- I might have placed it more to one side but I wasn't there to see the surroundings. So another 9.8 for you and another dream for me......Great.

Boa foto. As cores e os contrastes estăo fantásticos. A grande área envolvente quase nos faz cair na tentaçăo de fazer um bom "crop" mas, na verdade, o espaço ŕ volta dá uma sensaçăo de grandiosidade ao cenário e mostra bem a solidăo a que essa casa chegou ...

nice shot. the flashy blue and red of the house look so happy and artificial in this lonely landscape. maybe it could be nice to have the house a bit less centered but anyway that's a nice shot

This is nice, Ned. Your subjects (ghost towns) makes you one of my favorite travel guide. There is something about theese old houses that is extremely strong for me. Have you ever been near the Donner's party place (the Great Lake, Nevada?) ? Where is it exactly? I want to know what it looks like.
