Hot Air Ballooning
Taos, NM

A continuation of our hot air balloon ride in Taos, NM.
Photograph taken once the first balloon was being tilted up. I took a ride in the one still being filled. You don't get a lot of time to take pictures. Once the balloon is up, you've got to enter quickly or else your ride will leave without you.

Hi Amber,

I was too busy uploading my own photographs to comment on your shot. But I like it! It is in a way funny to see a guy looking like a cowboy using his rope to get a balloon up in the air. The cowboys came a long way over time. In the past they used their lasso to catch indians on horses and these days they use it to catch balloons :-).

Haha, I can imagine... You'll still be changing filters when the balloon is a hundred metres up in the air. I like the deep colours on the shadow side of the balloon. Nice composition as well!

I think that this your best shot yet of the balloon festival. The composition is fantastic and the colors and lighting beautiful. The two people pulling on the ropes add some interest and a lot of drama. You did a terrific job on this image!

Hi Amber,
I am always attracted to images of hot air balloons. They are so graceful and usually colourful. These are no exception. I am actually going up in one for my 50th birthday. To me that is really something to look forward to. A lovely image you have shown us here. Including the helper in the image adds a lot of interest.
