Photographer's Note
Location: Delicate Arch. This arch has become a symbol for the state of Utah, and can be seen on most of our license plates. Every evening dozens of people gather to watch the arch as the sun sets. The lower the sun gets in the sky the more vibrant the color gets on the arch. I've seen it appear almost red just before sunset. To get to the arch requires a 1.5-mile hike, which is up-hill most of the way. It's not a difficult hike but can be a little strenuous if your packing all your photography gear in the heat. If you go on a hot day (anytime other than Winter and early Spring) be sure to bring plenty of water.

Bonjour Ryan,
Paysage grandiose, cette diagonale ombre lumičre est trčs bien vu!
Le petit coin de montagnes blanches avec les petits nuages sont aussi excellents, bravo.
Amitiés.

Nice composition, it seems to be layered contrasts--the black suddenly gives way to brilliant reds, which suddenly give way to snowy mountains in the distance. The POV works well, it can sure be nice to get away from the crowds...
Thanks!

Sujet, exposition et lumičre, excellent, la masse d'ombre qui forme la diagonale est bien vue mais me gčne un petit peu. Je la trouve trop importante par rapport au reste de l'image.
Amicalement.

Hi Ryan,
Superb natural view and good PoV to capture sunset lights and offer us a succession of plans, the black foreground diagonal may be a bit too important but it certainly helps the stunning warm colors of the 2nd plan to stand out in an even more powerful way, the snowcapped mountains are a perfect background. I like too the presence of peaople, maybe they spoil a bit the remote discovery aspect we'd like to gather from the picture but they provide a helpful scale.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Ryan, what a nice photo from Arches National Park. Beautiful play of light and shadow. It is good choice to include those people there as they give better idea of scale of such a place. Great work. Lucie

Hi Ryan,
So i have to hike 1.5 mile with heavy gear....pffffff. But seeing this at sunset is a must see.
I like how you played with the large shadow, normally we see it from a complete other view. That you have included the snow covered La-Sal mountains is a big plus.
I like it a lot..!!!

Serwus Ryan !
Your idea of framing was extraordinary and the result is delightful. The light You caught at the moment enhances the natural beauty of the place and distant mountains covered with snow contrast very well with the heat of the forground.
This is very porffesional Work.
Thank You,
Mat

Beautiful colors, damn there are tourists there ;o).
I'm definitely not an expert for such kind of capture, however I would say that the large shadow area maybe miss some details ....

excellent picture, and excellent choice to focus on the lovely colors of the back (even if you overdark the front)...good diagonal, very pleasant image.

A great 'original' shot Ryan;
I like the very defined line, and how it looks like the edge of the world. I'm guessing this is a natural ridge, that in the original was well shaded, and in post production you've darkened it up??
The diagonal feel to the image as whole is appealing- very eye catching mate.
Well done,
- Dan

You sure took advantege of your trips(s) to "the the arches". Strong colours again (are the stones that red...impressive) and the people give the true dimention of the arch...

Stunning. The lines of the horizon, rock and the shadow are simply amazing. It looks like the whole world is tilting in slow motion. Well balanced composition and colors. The black in the foreground gives at the first glance the impression of domination, but at the same time is underlines the red colors of the rock. To capture the people is also a stroke of genious. It gives clear information of the scale.
