Utah/Arizona Border, a photo from Utah, West

Photographer's Note

This photo was taken from the Monument Valley Tribal Park visitor center, just as the sun was setting. Monument Valley, which was made famous in old western movies like Stagecoach, and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, is located right along the Utah/Arizona border. About 90 degrees to the right are the famous mittens of Monument Valley. I shot this photo the same day as the other Monument Valley photo I have posted here, (the other photo was taken about 10 minutes earlier) which shows the more traditional view of the mittens.

Scanned using a Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED.
Edited in Photoshop CS2.

The landscapes of Utah are always splendid. But I acknowledge that I prefer them with large clouds, as on yours. Very well realized, superb.

Wonderfull. The deep shadows add impact to the rich colours, the big sky and the empty foreground add the feeling of the immense landscape. The fact the photo is a little tilted to the right doesn't detract to the 5 star quality.

Going through the archives of today and came across this photo you had taken several years ago and posted last year. Interesting in seeing how much your abilities have improved over that time. The photo has its merits but your recent photos have so much more to them. Look forward to seeing where you are in a couple of more years.
