Photographer's Note
Location: Mt. Timpanogos reflected in Silver Lake. Wasatch Mountains, Utah.
About the Photo: This photo was taken at sunrise. It was a very clear morning. Some fisherman arrived a few minutes after I took this photo, and I remember thinking to myself, "Who in their right mind wakes up this early just to fish?" and when they saw me with my camera they probably thought, "Who in their right mind wakes up this early just to take pictures?"

Hi Ryan,
A very comic note ;-)
But you picture is great. You have really the dicipline to get up early and shooting these wonderful sunrises. I like this one because of the excellent composition. the dark deep blue water in front with just these 2 stones lead the eye directly to the reflecting mountain top.
Light is golden at the top.....truly wonderful.
Great piece of work my friend....very good..!!!

Hey Ryan. Very nice composition. I like the fact you didn't included much blue sky but rather the more interesting water surface with the two rocks. I really think they make the picture a lot more interesting. Good choice. Very nice colors. Good note!! :)

Ryan,
Lovely shot. I like the use of portrait format which highlights the depth/distance to the mountains. The reflections are beautifully captured. Image size is a little small.

Hi Ryan
That compo of two stones is terrific, adding some minimalism to the water, good exposure to smooth 'em up. Well, which fishermen would ever think waking up early would produce such nice result! Same with fishing I suppose.

Hi Ryan
Un beau pysage avec un superbe contraste de lumičre.
J'adore ces deux pierres sur l'avant qui dirigent notre oeil vers le fond.
Le reflet sur cette eau calme est parfait.
bien fait

I guess the art of fishing isn't that different from the art of photography. Sometimes you got a big fish, sometimes we don't. I can smell a big one here Ryan! The perfect simplicity of the composition, the golden colors of the early morning, the stillness in the water causing a perfect reflection; all these are key points on this wonderful photo of yours. The way the two stones guide our look in the frame is really amazing. A great photo!

I would rather have a camer in my hand - I think photographers have more chance of going home with something to show for their efforts than fishermen!
A very beautiful image Ryan with a clean composition that sets off the lit up mountains perfectly.
The fact that the colour of the reflection is exactly the same as the sky balances the image perfectly

Skilfully chosen proportions for this vertical. Clarity and reflections are outstanding. Nice effect of vignette, wonderful light.

Another fantastic compositon. The two rocks in the foreground give a nice sense of depth to the shot. The fantastic lighting puts this shot over the top. Thanks for sharing.

I like the cold, deep blue tones contrasting the warm light on the mountains. I think you've got the balance just right with the mountains not too bright or too saturated. The two rocks (and their small sibling, or does #2 have a humpback?) nicely break up the large space in the middle.

Hello Ryan,
What an amazing shot of Silver Lake and Mount Timpanogos in the distance. The lighting is stunning here as well as the reflection in the water. The 2 rocks in the foreground are a nice addition. I would certainly get up that early for such a view! Great composition and amazing quality! Excellent work, Ryan!

Hey!. I know those rocks. Your composition here is refreshingly simple and beautiful. You manage to get the essence of the light on Mt Timpanogos and a smooth quiet and compelling foreground.
You probably know I spend many hours up there, I was very sad tonight when I saw how far down the water level was. It is almost gone.
Great shot.

i made it back from Peru...
Very nice work--the composition is very well seen and seems very carefully thought out. The foreground shoreline gives a good sense of place rather than leaving me lost in the middle of the lake. The rocks serve to tie the foreground to the background reflection, adding harmony.
Thanks!

Beautiful shot Ryan! It's a nice simple uncluttered composition with your eye drawn to the alpenglow of the mountains by following the rocks. I like how you put the horizon about two thirds up the frame, it's great usage of a wide angle lens and helped to create the great sense of sharpness from near to far. Not to mention that you used the graduated color filter to expose perfectly.

Hi Ryan
Nice shot and good framing here. I like the gradual transition from deep colour to warm light on the mountain range. Best time to take shots is this time of the day, of course and you have delivered a great result too.
Well done.

Hello Ryan,
I did miss this one.
What a superbe landscape. just perfect. the right hour that give these pale and discrete colors and the wonderful reflection in the quiet water.
What is really good is the similarity of the colors beetween the sky and the lake.
The foreground composed by these 2 stones is just what you needed to make it a wonderful image.
Well done !

Hi Ryan:
I hadn't seen this one. One of the better shots of Silver Lake I've seen. The lighting is fantastic--you can't do better than that kind of alpenglow. Personally I think there's a bit too much water. Maybe a lower perspective might have been nice? Either way though, this is a fantastic shot. Thanks for sharing.
