Photographer's Note
We came upon this freshly painted landscape after following an evening storm for several miles across the plains of Wyoming. We had left the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole as it blew in over the mountains. In front of us, we watched shafts of sunlight cut through the ominous clouds. Eventually we drove into the rain, but then we slowed down enough so that this rainbow stayed just out of reach: at one point it looked like it was in the road just a quarter of a mile ahead of us.
The western plains are a land of wild landscapes, weather, and geothermal features. From Yellowstone, through the Tetons, and south toward Colorado, there is a whole world of rugged terrain and awe-inspiring beauty.

It is a wonderful rainbow and the second with reverse colours is very nice too. Pity the foreground is a bit too soft but the over all picture is quite nice. A small typo in the last sentence of note as it should be 2008, I believe. Well done.

Hello Greg, colors and composition are wonderful, rainbows are eyecatching, and you are right, it is like wet paint by a skilled artist. TFS.

hi Greg
This color tone and the rainbow is really impressive. The dark sky contributes nicely to enhance the rainbow color as well as the patch of light coming down the plain.
I discovered that when you are on a long road trip through the natural landscape, you will find fabulous scenes that are hard to come by.
I like the mood that you have captured for this special moment. The only setback would be the blur in focus. Because the rainbow does not need any focus, the sharpness should fall on the plain where the light falls, IMO.
Nice work.

Greg,
the colors and mood of this shot are simply terrific. Really wonderful how the dark sky in the background enhances the unfolding rainbow and sunglow in the foreground.
Your description in your note fits very well to what the landscape is. Exactly as I perceived it when being there myself. Unfortuntaly I wasn't lucky as you to get such a wonderful light display.
