Photographer's Note
Alpenglow: A reddish glow seen near sunset or sunrise on the summits of mountains.
Location: Teewinot Mountain, from Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. Elevation of Teewinot Mountain is 12,325 ft (3756 m).
About the Photo: This was the second morning of my recent trip to the Tetons. I had not been planning to take sunrise photos from this location. String Lake was my intended destination, but I made a wrong turn and ended up here by mistake. I woke up late so I didn't have time to correct my mistake. Instead I ran down to the lakes edge and began looking for a nice foreground for my shot. Just then I looked up and noticed the sun was already hitting the tip of the mountain, so I had to set up shop right then and there.
Focal length was 11mm.
A Cokin Polarizer was also used.
Side note: I just realized I have a lot of photos with the same basic composition. Here are few examples I've already posted on TE.

Very nice! I like how the summit is spotlighted. You exposed it perfectly as the mountain and its reflection are right on. Very good usage of a graduated filter.

Hey Ryan,
An interesting photo with a lot of elements: reflection on water, sun effect, blue sky. Good composition with rocks on foreground.

This is what i call wonderfully composed picture :) Rocks in first plan, the golden peak touched by first rays of sun and almost the same in reflexion, perfect. A dream :)

Hello Ryan. Splendid photo. I like very much the reflexion on water and the transparency at the same time. The colours are great and the light is soft but intense. And the composition, of course, is perfect :) Very good work.

I like your "basic composition" very much. Here the glowing top of the mountain is nicely balanced by the stones in the foreground. I like how the stones hudle together with the stray ones leading the eye back up. The icing on the cake would have been some clouds in that sky. Great portfolio.

Hi Ryan,
You can probably publish a photo book of the National Parks with your portfolio, and am sure many will buy including myself. This is wonderful. Best wishes.

Great shot Ryan! This is an example of how important light is - the sun on the top of the mountain gives a golden glow that contrasts very nicely with the cool blue light on the water and sky. The stones in the foreground add interest there and also give us a good near/far type of look. Beautiful!

Hi Ryan,
another amazing shot of yours. I Particularly love the "red spot of colour" given by the peak in the distance. The light is also well balanced. I would only have cropped a small slice of the sky in the upper part of the composition. Congratulations, Dario

Nice shot for a 'mistake'... ;}
Ansel Adams once said, "Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer - and often the supreme disappointment."
You have nothing to be disappointed about this image...or any of your others along the same theme.
Very well done.

It's all about the light here my friend. Glad you hit this by mistake :) The result is amazing. The composition is very good. Although simple, nothing could more justice to this wonderful view. The exposure is perfect and it's quite impossible to make it better. Thanks for introducing me to that new English word: Alpenglow. Very good indeed.

Wonderful, Ryan! Not only you have captured a fantastic moment in terms of light here, but also you have chosen a perfect POV which allows you to frame this mountain with its reflection so nicely with these FG stones. Symmetry is great and the central framing fits that.
Cheers

Hi Ryan,
When i compare it to "Serenity Now" then i would choose that one, with no doubt.
But this one has is own style an minimum on reflecting light, just the mountain top, and that is why this one also gets the attention it deserves.
A good my...really nice.

Hi Ryan, you're right as soon as I laid my eye on this thumbnail I had the impression that I have seen this same motive several times earlier in your collection. I doesn't matter. Repetitive patterns enhances the basic skills. Again the DoF is well balanced. The V-shaped patttern of the stones in the fg contrast with the turned upside down V-shape reflection of the mountains.

Very well done, Ryan--it's not easy to expose alpenglow shots so that the gold tone dominates but there is still detail in the shadows. (The grad filter helps, I know.) Really nice foreground, almost Zen-like. You captured that morning mountains feel very successfully. Regards, Ken.

Dear Ryan,
Very beautiful. I don't have any words to say how beautiful is this and I am new to this trek earth.I have very less knowledge about all these lenses, focal length but I saw your note, such a good explanation. You have not left anybody to ask anything. Each and every information is so neatly described in your note. Hope you will be the inspiration for the newcomers to trek earth like me to learn Photography thru this.
