Photographer's Note
The Chapel of La Conquistadora is among the oldest survivng structures in Santa Fe, built in 1714 as part of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, a church just near the main plaza of the city. It is named for a small statue of the Virgin Mary believed to be the oldest existing representation of Mary in the United States, brought by Spanish settlers in 1625.
The chapel itself is a small adobe room to the back left of the cathedral, and in Catholic fashion, there are always candles burning below the altar. The candles at the Basilica were in these small and delicate tin cups with Christian crosses carved out of them, glowing red in a somewhat dark chapel.
Views of the Cathedral itself and its interior can be found in WS.

Hi Andrew
Great low light shot with beautiful colour tones. Good line through as the round "cups" of light line up from right to left. Good use of DOF too - very creative shot.
Well observed.

Hi Andrew
Great composition with a very pleasing red light. The tight crop works really well with this one and the dark exposure suits the subject great.
Have a nice weekend

Hello Andrew,
Your picture is interesting in two way. I like the pattern repetition. Both what I like most is the contrast between the lit area and the shadows.
Great composition.

Hi Andrew,
A sombre, yet beautiful capture. Many times have I sat in cathedrals and looked at sites like this and wondered what thoughts and prayers were behind each flame, and this captures that brilliantly.
Best wishes

Hello Andrew,
You have made a most atmospheric picture with the golden and red tones against the blackness. The exposure has given a shallow DOF which is creative but still very sharp in the middle. A super image.
Kind Regards, Ann

Hi Andrew
great use of the limited light.
black and orange are colors we don't get to see very often in photos, especially ONLY black and orange.
the close up collage-style presentation is very effective.
nice shot

Hi Andrew
Great close up. Wonderful soft light and red tones. That gives a very nice mood enhanced by the illuminated crosses and the shadows.

Bernard
