Little doe in early morning fog, a photo from West Virginia, South

We've had some amazing weather this summer - cool, breezy, verrry nice. Monday, though, was perfect and now rain is moving in. So I got up reeeeally early (for me) to get some pictures before the rain came. The fog was crazy, but cleared off quickly. Before it did, though, I saw several deer which is a joy for me, because I seldom do see them. This little doe was grazing on a hillside with the fog behind her.

Others have said so, but let me join them -- besides the beauty of nature embodied in this little doe (seeing "Bambi" in the cinema was a formative experience for me!) -- the genius of this image is its minimalism. Note I do not say simplicity, as I see at least one highly complex element -- the slanted line of the hillside could be varied many degrees clockwise had you wanted, but you have chosen an angle that provides perfect balance to the frame.

Beware these little creatures, though -- they have proliferated in the urban areas here (due to lack of predators) and now pose a daily hazard for traffic!

Shelly, I used to live in ND and this is a scene that I had every morning in my back yard...so beautiful and natural, amazing moment, peaceful moment of nature!

This is an iconic photo of peace and tranquility. It is a classic example of selective focus, it should go in a photography textbook somewhere.
