Photographer's Note
Did I stumble across some great intrigue in my time in Puerto Rico? A mystery unfolding, and a strange figure making their escape? A spy novel brought to vivid life before my eyes and my lens?
Sadly, nothing quite that exciting. This shot was taken in a tunnel, part of the Castillo de San Cristobal in San Juan. The mysterious, fleeing figure? Well, that turns out to be my wife, hurrying to get through the tunnel and out of my shot, without realizing her presence, hustling toward the light, made it far better than it otherwise would have been!
I gave this one a B&W treatment to compliment the mystery feel, but a color version is in the WS.

Hi Andrew,
29 views and nothing?
Let me be the first one,who will appreciate this image.
It´s brilliant for me!Very moody-exactly something in my taste. And next to your excellent POV I enjoy here how perfectly you mastered the available light.
Artistic shot!
Have a nice day

Ciao Andrew
bella prospettiva e bel b&w.
Mi piace la diagonale del tunnel accentuata dalla diagonale del corrimano.
Molto enigmatica la figura che sembra voler fuggire via.
Saluti
Carlo

Hiya Andrew
I prefer the post than the WS because the B&W tones give a more dramatic picture.
Good perspective enhanced by the white line ending on the running silhouette of the lady.
A good cover for a thriller.
cheers

Hi Andrew,
Monochrome captures the mood of this scene much more than color could. Excellent perspective-superb viewpoint. You have created a really strong composition with great light, excellently framed in landscape format.
Very well done.

Miro

hello Andrew
Not the kind of usual post on TE, more on the research side and I like that
A moody picture thanks to the b&w, the woman running to the burnt end of the tunnel and I like the glow all along the handrail
As an ad for a Hitchkok movie
well done, bravo
best regards

Hello Andrew
It works a treat. I use my old lady in the same way sometimes: good to know she's still of service! Actually this photograph puts me in mind of a series posted by Isabela Sorescu from a Romanian gaol. Here is an example. They're pretty powerful I reckon.

Hey Andrew,
Oh, this is great...a visual that supports exactly what you mentioned in your note. Those sentiments were ones that immediately came to mind before reading the text. There could be a million stories to come from a shot like this, and that's what I love so much about it...the open and endless possibilities. :) The black & white conversion is brilliant, adding to the fascination and intrigue with artistic grit. Composed and executed with a real sense of drama, you nailed it! Compliments on a winner! Enjoy the new day. Take it easy.
Friendly wishes,
Jason
Love the new profile pic too. Nice job proud papa. :)

I like such deep tunnel effect very much, it is made by light and shadows and the BW version works here very well

Hi Andrew
What a brilliant and well-executed image! Indeed the sense of mystery is very strong here, enhanced by conversion to b&w.
Lucky you had a "model" there even if taking a photo of her was not originally the intention... :)
Best wishes
Kasia

Hello Andrew!
Very interesting this black and white! Beautiful figure that stands out in strong backlight output! Very beautiful also the contrasts between light and dark!

Hello Andrew,
an excellent composition with the handrail giving a very strong diagonal line. It leads the eye to the exit and the running figure. Black & white is a good choice as it increases the sense of a tense, even frightening atmosphere. Who or what is doing the chasing ? we ask ourselves.

Hi Andrew!
Different and very good! I like the composition, the person at the end of the tunnel, the diagonal of the handrail... You managed light really well and b&w seems the perfect choice. Great shot, you turned a simple daily scene into a very mysterious one:)!
