Photographer's Note
As I was setting up a shot of a crowd of ducks swimming in the only thawed part of Horn Pond last Saturday, a woman suddenly appeared behind me and tossed an entire loaf of bread into the water. Ducks, geese and gulls swarmed, ruining the shot I had planned, but I took the opportunity to use my new zoom lens to try to capture some of the action. I wasn't all that successful all that often, but this one came out nicely, as a gull slowed up to dive into the frenzy below, hovering for a moment over the treeline of the pond.
Back to Puerto Rico tomorrow!

wow! A nice bird-shot is here. You captured the moment nicely. You are lucky to get it so close as you can use only 100mm... Nice freezing of the moment. Very good clarity and depth. Nice one indeed. Tfs.

Hey Andrew,
Whoa, you put that lens to good use alright...this turned out great! Sometimes it takes a hundred shots to get one, but no matter your ratio, this is the one that worked perfectly. Not only did you capture this bird with wings spread in full glory, but the exposure is spot on to keep the virtual white-on-white scheme from being blown out...there's sharp detail separating the bird from the background. Maybe not what you had planned, but you came away with a beauty none the less. Very well done! Enjoy the new day. All the best.
Friendly wishes,
Jason

Hi Andrew
Perfect timing to capture the spread wings on this gull. I like the fact that you included some of the landscape thus showing the bird in its environment.
Best wishes

Hi Andrew,
The backdrop here provides attractive colours, without showing any details. The bird itself is perfectly sharp and very well captured with its spread wings against the sky.
Kind regards

Hi Andrew,
birds are not easy to photograph but you did a good job here. Perfect crisp and clear with a blurred background. It is also a good harmony in colors between the bird and the frozen landscape, very attractive picture, well done!
Best regards/

Hi Andrew,a perfect pic for treknature too...ehehe..a great capture of this in flight bird,a very difficult situation and a great result. The best time of exposure to take it with the best details despite the very fast mouvement, very nice winter scenery in the blurred background too.Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Andrew,
Your initial plan might not have worked out, but you got a beautiful photo anyway. :-) This seagull is so sharp, and it's an elegant bird. I like the positioning in the frame, and the blurred background with horizontal layers. As a bird-lover I really like this one.

Hi Andrew!
Seems you didn't miss the chance, you captured it very well when it passed near. The focus is very good and you captured a great pose of the bird. Not an easy shot, but you got a good result!
