Hi Andrew
Kudos for your patience, especially if lying down on the floor in a busy place, lots of odd looks I guess. This single lone woman adds a lot to the overall result of this, she looks like a ghost flitting by in the scene. I do like the design of this connecting tunnel too, and must admit I was very surprised to hear its a hotel, I would have guessed airport of hospital. Excellent result, your patience paid off well.

indeed,it looks like a tunnel leading us to another dimension.The scene has really cool "sci-fi" feel and look.Something you caputred and you were able to convey here perfectly.
This is exactly the kind of shot I love the most!
Intriguing,futuristic and having some kind of mysterious feeling.

This scene is definitely very sci-fi. I like the symmetry of the walkway, and the reflections on the side. That woman was in the perfect spot, and I like the exposure. I've done some strange things to get a good shot, but so far I haven't been flat on the floor. :-) I wouldn't mind trying it, but I'm sure some fellow New Yorkers would walk right over my face!

Hi Andrew,

Hee, hee, I love your note - I can just imagine people wondering if you'd lost your mind or were dead drunk or something as you slithered along the floor on your belly trying to adjust your tiny tripod!

But it was all worth it in the end because you've come away with a magnificently graphic photograph. The "graphism" in the tunnel together with the strong light and contrasts there is balanced nicely by the soft colours and reflections on the shiny floor in the foreground. And, of course, the icing on the cake is the colourfully dressed lady on the left, nicely blurred as she walks toward the "vanishing point".

Lovely light and colours, a fine symmetrical composition, perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.

Fabulous!

Now you knew I was gonna love this one! I love the shapes and lines - the linear perspective that takes our eye down the tunnel too. The inclusion of the blurred person adds the FG interest and the colour of that "roof" reflecting in the floor gives it another dimension of depth. It is futuristic and I like the way you have taken an everyday structure and transformed it into something else - something I like trying to do myself as you know.

Excellent shot - one of those I wished I had taken myself.

The polished floor and the dark fg wall creates an excellent framing for this scene. Apparently it was worth the effort - we really have to work hard to get what we want, sometimes, haha. A very well exposed shot with the girl in a perfect position. Stunning depth - a cool shot! Thanks.

You've surpassed yourself this time! This is an eye-popping composition, nearly symmetrical and very graphic. I can't decide if it's got great sense of depth (like falling down a well, or having the whirling pits when pissed) or whether it's effect is essentially a two-dimensional pattern. I don't mind either way, and enjoy the uncertainty. And then of course, there's that ghostly figure. I'm glad you toughed it out on the floor!

I remember you admitting that you were a Trekkie a while back. Being a Whovian myself (and part-Trekkie), I can really appreciate this photo not just for the fact that it's an impressively artistic and well-realised photo. But also because I think it would not be out of place on the set of the latest Doctor episode. The neutral colours have contrasted so well with the orange tones. I love the symmetry and the superb reflections you picked up. The inclusion of the blurred figure is for me the master-stroke, adding interest, a sense of movement and also a modicum of menace to the image. Stunning work. That break you took has revolutionised your photography, and I mean that as a sincere compliment!

Hello Andrew,
Well done for persevering with this photo. I would have felt too self-conscious to lie on the floor, although my husband probably would have done so! This really is a first class image with a sci-fi look to it. The out of focus woman is perfectly placed in the frame and the symmetry and perspective of the rest of the picture is superb. Looking more closely I see how the reflections in the window and on the floor all contribute to the graphic composition.
This has to be a favourite for me.

Good shot! I light the graphism, the reflection on the pavement and the sense of movement of the person passing. Not much light here, but you managed very well!
