This interesting-looking pink house is not very typical of architecture in Charleston, but it does catch the eye. Beyond the color, it looks as though it's grown without any architectural input. Note how the two gable ends on the top are differently decorated, and the odd pyramid at the right. But even so, I thought it was rather pretty.

You can barely see in this image that the ceilings of all the porches are painted blue. This arises from a Gullah superstition that evil spirits cannot cross water, and blue paint is close enough, thus keeping the evil spirits out of the house. You see this, and very close to this shade of blue, all over the city.

Hello Roger - I love this eclectic-looking house. The mish-mash of styles and detail has enormous visual appeal and I would love to have a look inside. What on earth is the pyramidal tower about? Perhaps it is a good place from which to spy on the neighbours.

Sadly the overhead wires spoil the view a little but that is the price to pay for a modern lifestyle. I wonder if this house was lit by lamps before being wired? This would make a great location for a creepy story.

A fascinating building!

An interesting style, like perhaps if Barbie moved into the Addams family house, this could be the result. Great note, I did not know that about The color blue being used in this way, very interesting!

looks fantastic.
and reading the note and following the house around is fun too.
wouldn't it be great to get a peek on the inside?
I kind of get the feeling its full of old junk and millions and millions of nick-nacks lol

love the house, love the uniqueness of it, and it somehow gives off a creepy vibe too.

What a beautiful old house, it looks thoroughly haunted. All those mysterious little turrets and rooms with a view. The soft pink colour of the house is both unusual and so pretty. Thanks for sharing. have a lovely Sunday.

A great building study, an amazing commanding structures full framed giving a fascinating insight into local architecture with so much detail and design with bags of character. Wonderful to view the airy verandas with tropical influence, the girlie pinkish and of course the visible shade of blue. A great capture and most pleasing and satisfyingly informative. Great work!
