Photographer's Note
The TE influence has struck again, and now it’s Sergheis turn to be reason for my chosen post today. :)
It was his picture from a few days ago that prompted me to search back through my own and find this opposite viewpoint from where we were standing. This was taken at Goldfield Ghost Town in Apache Junction, Az…about a 30 minute drive from my place.
We both had a fun time roaming the dusty streets in this recreated old mining town, especially with cameras in hand…photo opportunities a plenty! We covered a lot of ground during his visit last year, some of which was a bit prickly. I’ve included a WS picture that shows Serghei stopping to take off a shoe and remove a small cactus needle that found its way through…a true desert experience! lol
I would like to have included a few people in this shot, but the only ones that passed by, did so right in front of the camera…completely obstructing the saloon. Next time out, a longer exposure to blur them and make it a “real” ghost town.
Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks, Jason, for this continuing of the Goldfield Ghost Town theme! This photo brings me back to that trip, I do remember every detail in this town. Great!
Excellent photo, but your WS makes me smile, 'cause I still remember these cactis ;)
Superb colors and perfect sharpness.
Best wishes from snowy Ural,

The old tractor gave good reference to appreciate the mighty cactus - a typical Arizona symbol, Jason. It is impressive plant.
Wooden beams house looks in good shape, and also well placed on the image.
Just missing some horses alongside - and you could start shooting a western.
Enjoy a nice Sunday,

Greetings You Old Coyote!
Is it me or does this cactus just look like a lot of upwards pointing middle fingers!
Whatever!
This place is just the sort of venue I would love, so much character and in such an appropriate part of the world. There seems to be something appealing to most Europeans about Wild West ghost towns, must be all the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns.
It looks quite magical in this exquisite shot and of course beneath a clear blue sky. I love the idea of a long exposure shot to capture some real ghosts. Get back up there sunbeam and show us the ressies.
Enjoy your Feeenix Sunday.
The Good, the Bad and the UGLY. (Expect you can guess which one I am)

Hello Jason,
It like an old movie with John Wayne out of ours childhood with the old saloon and the different handrails.
I see during the fighting the cowboys fall through the handrails, incredible.
Excellent perspective and depth picture with a nice view about the saloon.
Nice composition, excellent presentation with a nice sight on the tractor and cactus.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Sunday,
John.

Hi Jason,
You are c]very fast traveller, excellent jump from Russia to Arizona. Jump from big Shopping Centre to the Ghost Town. Very extreme subjects, but both excellently captured with the camera. You have captured superb composition, the wooden saloon along with big cactus plant and the rather smaller steam machine (it is a steam machine, or??). Your viewpoint is superb and the contrast against clean blue sky perfect.
Very well done.
Greetings,
Miro

Bonjour Jason,
Un autre point de vue sur un endroit vu derničrement et qui ne peut se situer nulle part ailleurs qu'aux USA.Le cactus est vraiment spectaculaire et le ciel du désert est parfait.

Hi Jason,
Very cool spooky ghost town, this is exactly as I picture every single desert town in the states. I know it's 2014, but in mind, the can can girls still kick the legs as high as ever, the whiskey flows in fingers and a man can be shot of being caught cheating at cards :) As well as that this would also be a fantastic place to shoot a few episodes of scooby doo. What cats my eye, apart from the cool saloon and cactus monster is that you also appear to have captured one of the cars from wacky races! Now that is cool, have scooby doo, wacky races, cactus gulch all in one place. All I'm missing is a bowl of Cheerios and its my childhood Saturday mornings reborn.
Cheers from Ireland, winter is coming......

Hello Jason,
Never mind that we don't see any people here, since there are so many other fine details to enjoy. And if we get any abstinence symptoms we can watch the WS. Above all this is a photo to admire than ks to the fabulous colors and brightness.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hello Jason,
a meticulously cropped, very fine upward point of view that gives a distinctive role to each of the characteristic elements that make up this setting. I like very much the rich, vivid colours as well as the clarity in the shady parts. This is quite an achievement as the angle of the light wasn't very convenient for such a demanding theme. The light is pretty intense but hasn't diminished the sense of mystery regarding the saloon of this Ghost Town. I never thought that cactus needles could cause such trouble, Serghei looks quite calm in the workshop photo though. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania

Hi Jason.
A superb composition, which takes us back to the environment of the Far West, the great room looks very authentic and old tractor, along with other farm machinery, put a royal touch, the great cactus is impressive for its size and beauty, I love .....
A great photo with a good range of colors.
Good management of both the brightness, and sharpness.
Well done. I love it.
Enjoy Sunday.
All the best, my friend.
Luis.

Hello Jason,
From your notes, I get the impression that this is not a 'real' old mining town, but it's very convincing! The old dilapidated machine and trolley are really good period pieces.
Your composition works well, the cactus halting progress to the left, whilst the steps are a good lead.
Although the light is strong, it is well controlled, with fine contrasts of light and shadow.
I had never considered the problem of cactus spines in shoes!! Poor Serghei!
Still, I should have recognised the problem; I have a small cactus at home and if I should ever be stupid enough to touch its surface, the pickles are incredibly peevish!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hi Jason,
Bonne semaine mon ami!

Excellent clear, colourful and pin sharp picture in a good composition.

Hello Jason,
Never mind the people, was there any moonshine, freshly imported from TN, in the saloon?
It looks like a nice place to spend some time, with or without a camera. The deep blue sky is awesome.

Hi Jason - The Old Wild West a scene that could be taken straight from a cowboy film! I love this scene there is just so much to absorb and enjoy and could only be in the USA. Not sure about the rude cactus though... quite a prickly character!

Hi Jason, Nice inspiration from Serghei :). I found this view in Google map, it is small but delightful street, one can feel as inside of all Western movie. I loved ghost cities - I was in Bodie and Calico. And why I haven't known you earlier? I would be in heaven there. I was quite close of this place going to Saguaro National Park. Saguaro very often grows near such tree as on the left. Marvelous photo, with this clear blue sky, even the slightest cloud there.
And such a nice WS photo. It must have been hot there.
I go to other side of the pond in January but more south - Brasil and Argentina.
have a nice week

Hello Mr Jason of Phoenix,
Finally in your North side with a typical shot ( Bad Breaking ) scene plenty of details to admire
Cactus, saloon and the old rusty tractor along with an very rustic cart
Super well composed, seems like a film scene
No need people, just the blue sky for contrast
Funny WS

Hi Jason
so this is a re-creation?
so the Bordello you and Serghei visited isn't real?
ah maaaan!!! come on lol
I thought you knew how to show your guests a good time!
haha
lots of cool subjects here, best of which has to be that Catci tree...cacti? cactus? whatever....
it has a real 'cartoonish' look to it don't you think?
and could you imagine if that saloon is the HUB of the city, I get the feeling it wouldn't be as clean in real life.
Think of all the spit buckets around lol
fun shot!
getting ready for Vegas Nov17th!
see you around

Hallo Jason,
Serghei's photo had the title "CACTI, TRACTOR AND BORDELLO", probably you had a duel, I say it ended in a draw!
Very good weather for photography
