Photographer's Note
The storm has passed and the rain stopped, as the sun breaks through the clouds creating a warm haze over the South Rim near Desert Point in the Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA.

Hello Brian,
you have used the haze to create a special atmosphere across the spectacular landscape,I particularly enjoy the change of tones from golden brown to faded blue.
The recession through the rugged crags is superb and gives a fine depth to the shot.
All the best Les.

Hi Brian,
I would say that the background was in the mist, pale. It seems to me that you tried to fix it, but a little too much postprocessing. The first plan appears unnatural!

Hello Brian,
Apart from this being a fabulous photograph from the Grand Canyon, it is also a perfect lesson in aerial perspective - that phenomenon in which distant objects appear to have reduced contrast and reduced colour saturation compared to objects nearer to the observer. From what I recall, Leonardo da Vinci was one of the first artists and scientists to appreciate this phenomenon which is no doubt due to dust or water vapour particles in the air and if you look at his masterpice, the "Mona Lisa" (or "La Gioconda"), you will note that the girl is painted in normal contrast and colour saturation whilst the distant view behind her has far less contrast and much softer colours.
And so it is with your photograph and the phenomenon certainly gives amazing depth to this image. Yet, despite the softer light and colours, we can still see wonderful details of the rock strata in the distant landscape. And a much softer sky than we have seen in many of your previous shots from here.
Gorgeous light and colours, a fine composition and exquisite details and clarity.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Brian!
Another very beautiful and attractive picture of that wonderful place!
I like everything, but special the distant background, on the top left side, where I can see different layers of the landscape with all its unique shapes!
TFS - congrats,
Cheers,

Hey Brian
Ah yes, the Grand Canyon!
can you believe it, i'll be here in just a few days.
We're heading down to Las Vegas for a 4 day trip on the 17th.
I like the contrast between the fg and the bg.
the bg seems to be in a permanent fog or misty air, and the difference is quite noticeable.
easy way to create separation between the two.
love this place!
see you around

Hello Brian,
If you have the time, inclination and photoshop skills, you could lasso the bg with a large feather border and try adding contrast and more shadows, perhaps saturation too. But leave that till last as I find that contrast increases apparent saturation. Anyway another amazing pinpoint sharp view of this celebrated canyon. Grand!
