The Summer of Love 1967

After our visit of a few hours to Sacramento we arrived in San Francisco.
Our weather experience in San Francisco gives mostly cloudy or even misty weather in the morning. At the end morning or early in the afternoon the sun breaks though. The closer you are to the pacific the bigger the change for clouds. Further inland the change for sunshine increases exponential.
With this experience in mind and a confirmation from the weather forecast we planned ourt museum visits in the morning starting the first day with THE YOUNG. Number 95 on the list of The Best Museums in the world. I think it deserves an higher ranking.

Todays pictures gives an impression of the exhibition The Summer of Love Experience: Art, Fashion, and Rock & Roll.
A fascinating exposition full of nostalgia from the time I was about 20. A promenade full of almost forgotten memories.

The Summer of Love Experience: Art, Fashion, and Rock & Roll was an exhilarating exhibition of iconic rock posters, photographs, interactive music and light shows, costumes and textiles, ephemera, and avant-garde films. A 50th anniversary celebration of the adventurous and colorful counterculture that blossomed in the years surrounding the legendary San Francisco summer of 1967, the exhibition presented more than 300 significant cultural artifacts of the time, including almost 150 objects from the Fine Arts Museums extensive permanent holdings, supplemented by key, iconic loans.
The Summer of Love Experience: Art, Fashion, and Rock & Roll commemorates an only in San Francisco social and aesthetic movement, and will remind museum visitors that in a time of international upheaval, the city played a vital role in changing society and amplifying the pulse of the nation.

De zomer van 67, echt een mooie tijd, ik was al een behoorlijke tijd gehuwd en iederedag druk aan het werk.
Hier zoeken mensen naar herinneringen uit vervlogen tijden.

Les années 67 sont bien loin aujourd'hui. Cette visite est sűrement bénéfique pour les nostalgiques de cette époque.
Durant cette période j'effectuais mon service militaire.

Hello Rob, Seeing this picture and title, I murmur at once If you're going to San Francisco be sure to wear some flowers in your hair. It is just from 1967. I remember well 1967, although 1968 was more memorable for me.
Nice display of old posters.
I looked The best museums, but I haven't found this full ranking, only smaller ones. What is number 1?

Een mooie impressie met al deze kleurrijke jaren-'60-posters aan de muur van deze tentoonstelling, die zo drukbezocht was dat het uiteraard moeilijk was bezoekers te vermijden, maar ze storen niet op de foto.

Hello Rob,
The finger pointing at a detail of one of the posters and the two pairs of eyes looking at that spot indicate an eager nostalgic interest. For the middle-aged (or even above that) 1967 is one of those years most of us remember well. It was the year I graduated from high-school, only to be forced into the army soon afterwards. It was also the year when I bought the Sgt Pepper LP as soon as it was released and when I heard the Jimi Hendrix Experience from a distance of maximum 5 metres, possibly the concert that gave me the tinnitus that still bothers me a bit.
Those were the days of bright colours and strange designs. This museum must have been fun.

Summer of 1967 was a milestone era for Rock-music, as through the rest of the 1960th, Rob, I feel "old-enough" to remember the music from that time 50 years back.
A nice take indoor's, colorful covers drew interest, and a nice unusual outcome on photo.

Hello Rob,

This photograph is full of vibrant colours, all neatly patterned as your previous photograph of the tiles. It is most attractive and does look very tactile, no wonder it is protected by a perspex sheet. I like how the two women are interacting with it i such an animated manner.
The w/s are interesting, too. I'm not sure what Alice in Wonderland had to do with it all but it is a beautiful poster!

Achei essa foto muito boa! O mural é bem interessante, com variadas cores e diferentes desenhos. A luz mais escura também é muito boa, a parte escura no canto superior esquerdo é um detalhe legal. Excelente nitidez.

It was a period of storm and change, rock and roll and the search for freedom, a beautiful set of old posters, ideal photo for older people to mention old times and for the young to know the history of the 20th century

Splendid composition with this wall, completely covered with posters from the 60's, its variety and color gives a potentially high chromatic image, the two women pointing to one of them, puts the vital touch to the image.
Colorful, sharp and bright are captured excellently.

Hallo Rob,
Het psychedelische geluid van 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida' deed me toen behoorlijk wegdromen. Het behoort naar the schijnt tot de best verkochte albums ooit. Toch lijkt het de tand des tijds niet overleefd te hebben in vergelijking met andere muziek van toen. Of heb ik een foute indruk ?
De vele kleuren op je hoofdfoto waren ook zo typisch voor de flower-power.
Een museum dat ik wel zou willen bezoeken ... maar SF is zo duur om te verblijven, hoor ik vaak zeggen.
