Photographer's Note

The Hudson River is a 315-mile (507 km) river that flows from north to south primarily through eastern New York. The river originates in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York, flows southward through the Hudson Valley to the Upper New York Bay between New York City and Jersey City. It eventually drains into the Atlantic Ocean at New York Harbor. The river serves as a political boundary between the states of New Jersey and New York at its southern end. In January of 2009 a Airbus A320 climbout after takeoff from New York City's LaGuardia Airport and the pilots Chesley Sullenberger and Jeffrey Skiles glided the plane to a ditching in the Hudson River off Midtown Manhattan. All 155 people aboard were rescued by nearby boats, and there were few serious injuries. The pilots and flight attendants were awarded the Master's Medal of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators in recognition of their "heroic and unique aviation achievement" and the story became a movie in 2016 directed by Clint Eastwood and stared with Tom Hanks as Sullenberger and Aaron Eckhart as co-pilot Jeff Skiles. The movie named Sully was nominated for Best Sound Editing by Academy Awards.

The West Street is a highway begins from Battery Park close to the mouth of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel where it also accepts traffic from the southern terminus of the Franklin D. Roosevelt East River Drive. From there, the route passes close to the site of the World Trade Center at Vesey Street. The route continues with this name passing by numerous piers along the Hudson River until Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District where it becomes Eleventh Avenue. I previously add a photo from the street level, you can see in the link below.

I took the photo from the One World Trace Center Observatory.
