Photographer's Note
I recently took a walk around the Lower East Side and the East Village looking for new street art. I passed by a restaurant that was closed for indoor dining, and there was some colorful art on their metal shutters.
At first I was attracted by the “I Love New York” message, and then I saw the two gentlemen chatting near the doorway. I included them in my shot without being overly-obvious, but it seems like they knew what I was doing. :-)
I must admit that I didn’t know who Milton Glaser was. I did some research, and found that that he was a very prolific graphic designer from NYC, and he actually designed the “I Love New York” logo! Other works included logos for DC Comics, and many more. He also was the co-founder of New York Magazine.
Milton Glaser passed away in June 2020 at the age of 91. This artwork is a nice tribute to the life-long New Yorker.

Hello Brenda,
Not only did you manage to take an excellent, rather catchy, shot of these blinds but you also found out the designer of this very popular logo, featured here!
It's a really well worked piece of art, the elements fitting together very well, just like a newspaper cartoon.
I wonder is 'The Jones' the artist?
Those two men add movement and narrative to your photograph. The guy on the right has a can in his hand ... almost as if he took it from the cartoon figure! 😆
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Brenda, a useful post from your walk, now both you and I know who Milton Glaser is. Even the photo shows the muscles, the idea of including the two men on the left is wonderful to give a little life to a composition already rich in art and color, really beautiful! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Brenda,
For a moment I thought that the painted figures were Tintin and his dog Snowy (characters of a Belgian comic series also translated into several other languages, but no idea if they are known in the USA).
It's a colourful street scene and both men came out just in time to take their part in the whole.
Since Milton Glaser passed away in mid-2020, this work will be relatively recent. Presumably much in NYC has changed in corona time that you can still discover.
Best regards, Paul

hello Brenda, The first thing that has come to my mind was that you can obviously say it about yourself: you love NY :). Eyecatching painting in this blue background and red heart. Inclusion of two guys, one with a red cap, was a lucky opportunity.

Hello Brenda,
A very nice photo of a wall painting with a message, lots of colors, lots of details. The red heart is well matched by the man's red cap (but I wouldn't have thought people are really wearing red caps in New York). The two men complement the painting perfectly with their rather expressive gestures and faces, next to the painted figures.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Brenda,
This is a nice tribute to the old departed
The frontage very colorful with attention for "I Love New York".
Maybe are the two old men still catching up.
Excellent composition and presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Hello Brenda,
A great shot of the closed shutters with their nice and colourful paintings, including the iconic NY sign. Milton Glaser's name may not be very well known, but his work is probably one of the most famous (and frequently copied) signs of the last few decades. The men are well included.

Hi Brenda
You made the best of this photo opportunity. Perfect moment to capture the two men - the gesture of the one on the right and the facial expression of the other. I love the matching colours of the heart and the man's cap.
Best wishes

Hello Brenda, now that I have read your informative notes, I can understand the artwork. A fitting tribute.
How lucky for you that one of the men was wearing a red cap, he balances the picture.
The two men busy with their conversation, with natural poses.
Good observation.
Kind regards, Jean.
