Butterfly, a photo from Florida, South

Photographer's Note

I could'nt find online informations about this variety because the butterfly kept its wings folded.
I'll be glad to add some details to my note, if you know.
Post-Scriptum: Our Italian friend Luciano Gollini, expert in lepidopteran ID, resolved the enigma.
So this butterfly is a stubburn Heliconius, which refused to extend its wings for a more spectacular picture!
I'm grateful for this piece of information.

Hello Robert,
To me this is above all a good photo, suitable for a photo site. Learning the species of the butterfly would certainly be useful information, but to me less important than the quality of the well composed photo, so nicely exposed and sharp and with such well saturated colours. But there are members who will no doubt be able to provide the information needed.

Hello Robert,

I bet you waited poised for it to open its wings! Wild creatures are often unhelpful, like that!
No worries though, you have captured the butterfly with excellent sharp, details; I'm sure Luciano or Silvio will be able to assist you in identifying the butterfly.
I would suggest that the flowers are aubretia!

Bonjour Robert,
An excellent close-up pf the small purple flowers and the beautiful butterfly. The sharpness and depth of field are very good. The patterns on the butterfly's wings are clearly visible.
