Perfect. I usually don't like well-centered objects on a picture but this one works to set the mood that you wanted to capture. The grandness of the desert is very well shot and your title is very fitting. If you play around with the levels (autolevel on Photoshop for example) and then sharpen, you might even be able to bring the tree forward enhancing its utter loneliness. The sky is just awesome.

Very nice effect. I like how the image is not oversaturated. Good catch Amadej!

A really nice shot! I like the effect when the leafs of the tree has been lightened in contrast with the quite dark clouds above. The almost desaturated desert and the deep blue sky creates a really eerie feeling. I agree with flip89 that this is a great example of a centered object that still captures the viewers eye. Well done!

Great shot. What a sky. Extraordinary composition between the exotic tree and the clouds. The mysterious landscape makes the impresion. Great, great shot ...

I can only say that I agree with the earlier comments... an amazing sky... the composition is effective, because it breaks the rules... a great shot.

Lovely. Nicely processed and very well done. Almost seems like this tree has some sort of magnetic power or act as an antenna and the clouds are attracted by it. Gives a sense of something supranatural. I like that.

Very dramatic shot! Great composition. I like the placement of the tree in the middle, and just the right amount of land and sky. Great colors and great sky. Well done!

Wonderful imposing sky. I agree with the others in that the picture wouldn't have the same impact if the tree was off-centre.
Good notes on post-processing technique too. I've learned something today.

I think you have a knack at capturing incredible sky formations. The composition here, even with the main subject centered, works very well. Even with the Velvia film the colors seem to be slightly less saturated which fits nicely into the desert theme. Well done!

The image is a painting and illustrates the feeling of being alone. The Joshua Tree has many branches and aspects, it is interesting in and of itself...

A simple but amazing composition. I like its dynamism. The tones really enhance the desertic aspect of the scene.
Congratulations !

A 2-D pictures that gives a 3-D impression. The tree really stands out from the picture due to the blue sky as its backdrop. The touch-up is also nicely done and this is something I should learn from. Thanks for sharing and yes, it reminds me of U2's song from the album 'The Joshua Tree' called 'One tree hill'.
My Favourite !! (^_^)

Fantastic, perfect..I don't know what else I could say. The sky is so heavily...dramatic, almost physically breaking and falling down on the helpless, solitary tree. Thank you very much for sharing!

I may be just tired but somehow you seem to have captured movement in your sky. it really looks like it is moving in and around your cactus here.
great breaking of the "rules" with your composition. I love the blue cast you have in your shot this also adds a lot of intrigue to your desert shot because you have made it "cold"
well done
