Photographer's Note

Today our area was blanketed in about 12" of snow. It was the first real snow we've had for the year. So I decided to pack up some stuff and hike around early this morning before too many people were out. Unfortunately, driving somewhere was out of the question but the Lehigh Canal is only a few minutes from my house. The path was fresh powder and the canal had just started to freeze over.

The canal was used for years to transport almost anything from eastern Pennsylvania to the New Jersey/PA boreder in Easton. Today its just used for exercise along its path and the occassional fisherman. Train tracks still run along one side and the Lehigh river along the other. In total the canal runs approximately 20 miles from Allentown to Easton, with views of the old Bethlehem Steel mill along the way.

I debated what area of this photo to focus on. I posted a workshop with a different view. Let me know what you think.
